Found these on the 'bay, and wondered if anyone knows anything about them.
20' ore cars, HOn3, nice details. The ad said wood, but they are plastic. A kit? Premade? Manufacturer?
Mostly I am just curious, but wouldn't mind finding a couple more.
They need a little work, some bent/broken details, but they still look good.

I’m afraid I can’t help but they’re great looking cars tho!
They appear to be reguaged #4012 Tichy's but I can't be certain.

Bingo! Thanks!
Found a couple kits on the 'bay and it does look like the right one.
Probably grab a kit and try to build a couple more, although my finish rate with craftsman kits is low....LOL...

apparently its quite common to convert those to HOn3 , Tichy sells them in pairs and 6 packs (12cars ) $65 at Micromark which is $5 a car , which is insanely cheap compared to anything in market today .

Thank you for that. Didn't realize they were still in production and almost paid double the price on eBay for a set.

So these kits are pretty nice, especially considering the price. Got the two pack for $15, and it was worth it.
Minimal clean up, excellent instructions. Will probably get a 12 pack soon.
After just a few hours Saturday, and today....

Most, if not all wooden plank cars are made of plastic now, it would be tricky where there are steel ribs to replicate bare wood if that was what you wanted to have. Easier to paint if another color was wanted and create "bare" spots, indicating wear and tear.
