No, I mixed red, orange, and burnt umber to get the light colored rust. I then used a dabbing/stippling type technique to get the light rust put down first. Then added the dark rust after with burnt umber.
Looks like a rusted roof to me and you did a great job. I'm looking forward to getting my new brushes and oil paints to start some rust weathering on box cars.

Hobbytronics: I am used to using acrylics and powders for weathering and after watching the videos posted by Mark, I want to try oils. Trying oils to create that streaking effect on car sides had been on my "To Do List" forever.
You really did a nice job using acrylics on the roof rust.
