If you could only buy one cutter, which would you choose? My feeling is that the vertical cutter allows the cutting of loose track as well as already installed track, whereas the horizontal cutter is designed to cut loose track only. I'm assuming both make an equally clean cut (at least on one side of the cut). Are both capable of opening the same amount (as rail height is greater than rail width) in order to cut both rail height and width? Are they equally accurate to use? Is orientation the only main difference? I will be starting a new layout.......I know, I said that 2+ years ago.....but this time I mean it.....really, so the majority of my cuts will involve loose track, but I suspect I will also be correcting mistakes of recently installed track as well.
