Inspired by Troy's gaming minis pictures. What else do you build or model?

For me it is mostly Sci-fi and I admit to having an X-Wing problem.

My main hobby is flight sim building

Whoa, whoa, whoa...that's brilliant. Overhead projector--used one for years myself for my own (much simpler than this kit and flat, not curved screen), sim-racing cockpits. I also build as it looks like you do so the projection is life-size (else, what's the point?), and I also have the same Logi Pad to the lower right...but your panel is freakin' great!!!! And so I have to ask--are the various gauges single round screen types? Or are they even DIYs, like those laid out in the "Mike's Flight Deck" books? Some of those were built with glass-bead bearings and needles, magnets, magnet coils, multi-deck PC boards with standoffs, etc.😍

I'll tell you who else would love your rig...one of my old sim-racing buddies, a guy named Rick Smith. He used to tell all the racing peeps who also flew jet sims: "If any of you guys want advice or tips about Falcon 4 (which I gather had a basic manual 2" thick, out of the box)...just ask me."

He had 2,100+ plus hours in F-16's, so we all believed him. He might even have been a "Wild Weasel" guy, although at a certain point he couldn't tell us.

I really do think he would love it. Truly excellent work. Probably better'n actual Mil-spec in many places too.

This in NOT my rig, but it's very, very similar to what I ran maybe 20 years back, when I also ran an overhead projector:

I'm putting together a new version as we speak, with a Nexigo ultra-short throw Aurora MKII overhead projection setup, so it'll be flat main screen (4K, 3D). But I can't show you any pictures yet, only a bunch of parts, mostly still boxed.

Won't have anything at all like your instrumentation though. Cars from the sixties-eighties had maybe half a dozen, no HUD, and we are still taxed with just that small amount of info.

Dunno either about how the level of immersion in your rig affects your body movements as a pilot or not, but you will probably have noticed Remco tips his head--as though wearing a helmet, or even just the weight of his head itself alone--into the corners. Love it, and I'm sure I do it too.

Sim racers also run various haptics rigs (you might have some yourself if yours is a DIY or FFB stick there). Among those are seat-belt haptics, where the seat-belts (some do wear them, yes), are suddenly tightened when you are braking into corners to simulate the effect you get when you are thrust forward under hard braking against those same belts.

Hard to see where the shock increase might be as useful under flight-sim conditions...until you land on a carrier and are suddenly snatched up by the number two wire. How many G's then?

They might be good for general "G" sensations too, of course. I've just been told elsewhere that SimHub software will allow eight channels currently for various haptics in it's current versions. You might already be using software far more advanced, of course.

I build plastic models of airplanes (mostly airliners), cars, figures, an occasional sailing ship. Most anything that I take a fancy to. I never got into armor modeling, but appreciate other's work. I can't remember the first model I built, was probably a cast-off of my brother's. Still never satisfied with my results. HMS VICTORY is my current long term projectl

I also rebuild/repair old guns for folks and play tabletop games like Battletech or a couple of other RPG games.
