What do I do

Hi all, newbie here. I am in a quandry. The body and chassis of this engine, don't go together. The body is one company, and the chassis was cut and stretched to fit the body. I am trying to find the right chassis for it, but no luck so far. Need an opinion, should I just leave it as is?

What it looks like you have is an AHM model of an FM C-Liner shell placed on an early Bachmann F unit chassis.
If it runs, leave it be. If it doesn't, I wouldn't spend a lot of time on it unless it is important to you.
Neither of those models were particularly valuable or reliable.

If you can find a cheap Bachmann H-16-44 diesel chasis, you can adapt that to the body and you will have the correct trucks. Fairbanks Morse diesels had unique truck design. If you can attend a good train show, maybe you can locate original AHM/Rivarossi running gear for that shell. But getting the Bachmann H-16-44 chasis will get you a good running gear, since the Bachmann model was either a Spectrum, or Plus series.
F unit diesels were General Motors production and they ran on Blomberg style trucks, which are completely different from Fairbanks Morse diesel trucks.

Thanks for the info. At this point, I have put it back together and will leave it as is. I am amazed at the knowledge all of you have. I am still fairly clueless regarding HO trains, but I am slowly learning.
