ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.
I have completed alot since my posts a long time ago. I will cover some of them here and other's later. Here are some views of what I have accomplished over that past four years. My layout is a switching layout with lots of reasons to pick up and deliver goods.
I use background buildings at the back part of the layout in order to fill that area with a purpose, and thus have switching of freight in that area. That back part of the layout is all finished, as is what I call the peninsula of the layout.
I made a single lane underpass that is like one in my boyhood home county of Lancaster, PA. The coal company reminds me of my childhood when we had a big coal furnace in our basement. The junk pile near the underpass is an area where that is a kinda out of the way place where people would dump their unwanted items. Every railroad had hobo camps so I added one to my layout, which reminds me of a hobo camp that was along the track near my boyhood home that my parents warned us to stay away from because they would eat us!
I include things on my layout that connect me to my boyhood home and my family. Hershey Chocolate factory in Pennsylvania was close to my boyhood home. The coal company is named after my grandfather on my mother's side. Hosteen's Brush and Broom factory is named after the artist that painted the backdrop for my layout. (Do you get the connection?) I will include backstories which include my family member's names for the workers.
