Reminds me of my 5 female cousins packed in the rear seat of a 48 Plymouth and my Uncle beating his pipe on the side of the car and the hot embers blowing into the back seat and burning holes in the girls chiffon dresses!
I don't remember getting hit hard enough for bruises or even welts. It was more to get our attention when we were fighting as kids are want to do....
When we took the kids on a vacation to Michigan and went over that bridge I relayed that story to them and the oldest said' " yeah I could see that." The kids were 12 at the time (the wife and I have triplets).
