Oxford Chevy Corvair arrived today…

As a kid, my friend’s dad had a blue Corvair… my dad wasn’t impressed.

I got a bunch of Oxford cars lately (and the Brekina Plymouth). The 59 Plymouth taxi by Oxford is a replica of the taxis used in the movie "Its a mad Mad Mad Mad World". The up top on the 57 Olds convertible looks better than the pre production illustrations led me to believe. And I'm happy to see the 66 GTO. Mid 60's (non Mustang) American cars are hard to come by in 1/87 scale.

I had 3 Corvair show ready at one time. Two different 65’s and a 69 convertible great cars

I just got two of Oxford's new 1/87 64 Ford Country Sedan wagons. And then I applied Country Squire "woody" decals, from Hamburg Decals, to one of them. The decals cost more than the little diecast wagon, but I wanted a 60's woody wagon on my layout and they do look awesome on the wagon. Forty years ago, I had a blue 64 Ford wagon.

Some of the other new releases from Oxford include a 55 Chrysler New Yorker, 65 Plymouth Barracuda, 60 Ford Fairlane sedan, 59 Plymouth sedan. and a Corvair Greenbriar van.

And here's a parking lot full of 1/87 scale Oxford cars. Oxford is currently in the process of being sold to new owners. We may not see more new releases or even new colors on existing models for a while.

They also just released a 50 Studebaker, a 42 Packard, and a 50 Nash Rambler.

Nash Rambler always makes me think of "Beep Beep". It still shows up on Sirius XM 50's channel sometimes. Long ago, got a lot of play on the old Dr. Demento radio show.

I always thought the corsair was a cool looking car. A high school classmate of mine had 2.

Jim, you've got taste in cars. I caught the Greenbrier too. At one job, around 2005, I could walk down to the window and see a 66 Corvair Monza convertible and a '64 Avanti. Sigh. Our first car was a '69 Barracuda coupe.

I finally ordered a Corvair and at first generation Barracuda. I also bought a 1/64 Avanti. One of these days, I’m going to build a diorama to show my 1/64 collection.
