Need a bit of help with ESU LOKSound

Hey fellas, recently got a U25B from Bowser and was curious if anyone knew what all the sound CVs and their ranges where. I’ve figured out the bell and horn cv change, but nothing like Random sounds.

Also, I was wondering, is there a decoder that can make it so the locomotive could have a simulated failed start up? Just thought it would sound cool.

That is part of the sound project, not the decoder.

You will be best served with the Lokprogrammer for using ESU decoders.

To make things clear, all I really need is a short list of CVs and what they do, as well as their ranges.

The list of CVs is nearly 2000 entries. Did your loco come with any documentation? You might find more commonly used ones there.

There was no CVs list in the packaging. I was just wondering if anyone could forward me to an official list, because I keep finding lists for other makes and models.

May have to copy and paste but it's the User Manual for Loksound decoders. It lists many CV's.

The Bowser site says the U25B has a LokSound Select decoder and its manual can be found on the LokSound site.

It will do no good to have the manual as sound slots cannot be manipulated on a Loksound decoder without the Lokprogrammer.

My bad sorry thought it would help.

I have an atlas diesel S2 that has a lok sound sound decoder and I’m able to change the cv’s with my MRC DCC system.

Yes, you can change CVs with any command station, but you cannnot manipulate sound slot information nor edit it. Sound slots and sound files are a separate operation than simple CV alteration.

If you are using ESU, LokSound decoders in more than a couple of locos, you will need the LokSound Programmer.
RhB Michael is right. Sound slots and sound files are a separate operation than simple CV alteration.

Also you might find it helpful to join the ESU users group : http://www.loksound.com/

I have used the new new ESU Adapter board in a BLI steam loco and you really need to pay attention to download info about setting up that board for the decoder. I got the help I needed from a member of the ESU group. Saved me a lot of trial and error.

Just a suggestion on my part.

I found the CVs I needed and changed them accordingly. The loco runs and sounds like I want it to.
