Started in the hobby around 1988 when I bought a Bachmann n gauge Great Northern consolidation and some CPRR old time cars for a christmas train. Went on a buying spree in the early 90's, visiting every store I could find in the bay area picking up mostly Atlas/Kato locos and rolling stock. Moved to Japan in '94 and kept going. Went on a 20 year hiatus, just on and off type stuff during that time. Recently retired from second career and am now getting back into it. Have been cleaning and reconditioning my old Kato and Athearn power and recently started looking at UK models. Have a ton on n gauge and some HO/OO scale stuff.
Don't have a layout per se, just unitrack on the floor. I vacuum the floor every day and use a tomix vacuum car for my n track and made a vacuum car for my HO 3 times a day to prolong the inevitable.
I've been 3D printing a lot of my rolling stock and have recently started printing some of my locos. Thingyverse is a good source. Also, have used the 3D printer to make engine cradles for remotoring projects. Very useful.
I'm a run what you brung type, so if it rolls, it's good to go. I have JN and UK steamers pulling UP smoothsides, UP geeps pulling UK vans and wagons.
