future planning, adding power to Digitrax DCS152

I have begun my journey into DCC and so far everything is going well. I bought the Zephyr express DCS152 before I ever started my layout. I currently have it working and have a DPDT switch so I can run DC or DCC. It all works. DCC engines run nicely and it's like "wow". When I am ready to add more power so I can run more than 4 at a time, I was considering adding a DB150. For what I have now I know it's really unnecessary, but I's like to start thinking about it awhile. Any thoughts? I have not seen anything describing specifically adding a DB 150 to a Zephyr, but maybe I'm not looking in the right place.

I would think that would not be a problem, just setup the DB150 to be a booster only. I believe it can handle up to five amps. It will be half duplex but that should not be a problem. Oh and the phase will be switched so you probably will have to swap track power wires to get them to match.

Got back Mon night and it was there...
Got one fixed up real nice.

Anyway, I think you need to research breakers, light bulbs, and power districts before you start buying more dcc power. Get these concepts understood and implemented first.

Yes, I'm not in a real hurry, I have a few DCC mobile decoder locos and it's pretty amazing how they just seem to operate more prototypically especially at slow speeds. I ordered a few mobile decoders I want to start fooling with installing to see how they work on different brands and I bought one with sound.

One of the really cool things about model railroading are the million and one things you can do, lay track, landscaping, structure building, fix cars and locos, modify cars and locos, troubleshoot problems..... I should have started this hobby years ago instead of pinball machines, jukeboxes, then tube radios, then tube tvs, then tube 16mm projectors, 16mm films, vintage stereo equipment, 3d printers, china electronic gizmos.... my wife is happy I've stabilized my hobbies, now I just have to finish getting rid of the previous hobby stuff.

I did a major downsizing about 5 yrs ago. I eliminated some hobbies, and downsized others. A lot of art supplies went to grandkids, bike parts to our bike giveaway organization, car tools, magazine collections, etc. Took me months.

I had forgotten my art hobbies, water color painting and colored pencil art... Then there's the electric guitar sitting near my desk...adult adhd at it's finest!
