Well I hooked up the power yesterday, ran some switching scenarios and discovered something I suspected would happen. I didn’t touch the front main track once. When I designed it with SCARM the main continued on.
Yup, as cool as the two curved turnouts look together they serve no real purpose as a stand alone shelf layout so if this never joins the layout there’s really no point to having this arrangement.
The new version is a bit more versatile for switching and although it leaves the main track to the left sort of redundant it creates a pocket to show off locos or other rolling stock. At least that’s what I’m telling myself for now. LOL

The inspector seen here adorned with his PPE is rolling his eyes at me.

Wow I’ve been busy catching up with everyone else’s work and just realized it’s been six months since I caught up with my own thread!
I added LED lighting to the shipping department, including load traffic lights.
I’ll add the “move on green only” signs when I figure out how to resize them…

Well I’m still playing around with LED's while I’m cleaning up.
This is a Motorart HO scale Volvo pulp loader that I put a 3mm flashing LED in.
Powered by the Just Plug lighting system.

Great thread. I love paper mills. The massiveness that dwarfs the people, vehicles and rail cars is so great to me. While my latest paper mill build will mostly be a scratch built facade. The Superior kit from a Walthers though has seen a lot of kit bashing by me over the years as the warehouse and recovery Boiler buildings are so versatile. Nice work on your alternative builds.

I have 3 of those Volvo log loaders and have contemplated lighting the beacon, now you’ve convinced me to do it. I really like your pulp yard unloader, adding the missing stairway is a nice touch and until you mentioned it I didn’t notice it missing. Nice addition
