Looking at the link Michael posted, quick count is 79 places shown, with 9 construction/people possibly active spread out over the 79. How far are they behind? Where is the rail in most? Don't tell them about MagLev....

Noticed that as well. Someone should be working instead of taking photos! Judging from the traffic, it looks like some of those roads aren't needed either.
This thing won't be ready in my lifetime!
 
Guys, I just wanted you to look at all the thousand or so pics on the construction...


But since you mentioned it...

There are plenty of people working.
The "fiasco" article itself plainly states 11000 jobs have been created.

The page I posted has 74 projects. 53 completed, 21 under construction.

They are not building roads. You guys know that.
Most all of these structures are grade separations or simular.
It's about saving lives...google "death train" to see what I mean.
Many of these separations protect the BNSF or UP line in addition
to the high speed line.

Wasted money, sure. Money laundering?
Congress has allocated some 16+ billion in military aid to Isreal
since Oct 7...

Official word is that they have actually begun laying SOME track.
Where, I do not know. I will believe when I see it.
They cannot lay track all the way until the remaining projects are done anyway.
 


Remember the "No Politics" rule. Discussing the project is permitted, discussing the reasoning of the entities involved, funding methods, etc, are all political by nature.
 
Eventually it will get done. People talk about high speed rail and while a good idea there is the reality of living in USA. Most people say good idea but not in my back yard. That adds layers and with layers come costs.
 
And then to get people to ride them. Not high speed, but we rode the 'commuter' between Oakland to Sac at 1600. Maybe 1/3rd full. About 1/2 way to Sac, I realized that you could watch out the front window. Camera was buried in the backpack and I did not want to have stuff laying all around to get to it. Tried phone, but train was too fast and everything was blurry. Was a fun ride though and it was on time.
