A folding HO layout

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

I have built a folding table for an HO scale layout. I haven't laid the tracks yet (they are arriving soon). When folded, the layout can be used as a switching layout. When fully opened, trains can run the loops.

The folding table totals 8ft at length. There is a 4ft long small yard on the left side.

The whole point for having this folding option is to save space when not in use.

I am going with a single loop instead of two due to costs.

Can I suggest that you add another turnout where your stub end enters the one shown, this would allow you to have two stub end tracks, and maybe a small industry as well. Also, when finances permit, it would allow you to turn the stub ends into a smaller inner loop with a minimum of work.
