    Best N Scale switcher?

    Atlas makes VO1000 & S-2, Kato NW2, Life Like now Walthers Sw9/1200 & Sw8/900. I do not have much time with any of these. The VO1000, S-2 & NW2 have drop in decoders. The S-2 can be bought with sound or non sound decoders. Dan

    N Scale Setup

    I have seen test tracks using a piece of flex, sectional, or Kato track. If not connected to the layout can not program all your locomotives to the same address. Can speed match engines on the mainline. I use the Zephyr to program and speed match engines. It took a lot of practice for me and...

    Coupler confusion

    If the car uncouples one direction and not the other could be part of the knuckle is missing. Can still find some of the old Kadee couplers that was manufactered when as MRLdave wrote before the split.

    N scale track cleaner

    As dilley 340shows . Can also use a piece of masonite as the slider. Make sure to bevel the ends, so it does not snag a switch or high spot on the rails. Dan

    Port Of Los Angeles in N Scale?

    If you have the space why not build it to the same size. Would have more room for industries and more cars to move. Could make the straight thru track a siding to have a run around track.

    Have no pictures, but seenLTEX 31480 & 1485 at Steel Dynamics Inc at Columbia City IN. Both units arrived in BN paint now being repainted red & gray roofs. Do not know if rented or bought from LTEX. Dan

    Atlas vs Microtrains couplers: is Atlas as good?

    I have had the accumate couplers fall apart during operation. I run them til they fall apart and replace with Micro Trains.
