    nice starter set, the outside tracks look really close to the edge, i would maybe suggest since your grandson will be using it to enlarge it to a 5x9 at least giving you a 6" border around the outside tracks encase of a derailment

    if you go dcc you can use one controller for many trains and not have to worry about multiple controllers and multiple power blocks

    dcc might be easier for you, the bachmann ez dcc set is very simple, just programming of the engines and allows you to run a few engines at once, all the track is on the same circuit just positive and negative

    thanks guys, i stumbled across a video on you tube and the guy actually shows the difference without spraying and spraying then adding glue. makes much sense now

    Hi Guys im planning on playing around a bit and making a small shelf yard area that i can later attach to my layout, when i lay the ballast then spray it with the 50/50 water alcohol mix, why am i spraying the mix? whats the purpose, opposed to just putting the glue water mixture...

    those stub tracks are some off the operations i will be using, the bottom right hand corner with be a dual coal/mining operation, to left of that will be a grain siding. the siding above that just before the centre cutout will be warehousing for boxcars to offload and load up. the 3 stage...

    Rail Moddler is the track plan software, im on a mac so this one is compatible there are alot of windows based ones on the market. i used google sketch up to do the 3-d rendering

    -HO items are both dc and ac, if its dcc controlled it will be ac and if its not dcc it will be dc. -dcc stands for digital command control, and dc stands for direct current. the way dc trains run is the controller has a variable resister inside it and as you turn up the speed it allows...

    Hey Guys Im going to start building my 4x8 layout. when it comes to dcc, do i need to run feeder lines to all the tracks or should i be ok with just connecting to the main terminal track?
