DC or DCC dilemma, please help!

I am currently running this exact setup. It can run both DC and DCC. Works great for me. I am slowly converting my fleet to DCC

    Shelf Layout Building

I have done my required reading that @troyphoto suggested, and I have come back with a bit of a change. The main focus was to condense the west yard to one station terminal track, a single interchange track, and a single maintenance/storage yard. I have also expanded on the main industry(most...

    Shelf Layout Building

I recently finished up the self layout build. I posted a bunch of updates on Model Train Media the new social media platform for model railroaders. Here are the pictures of the finished product: I have a temporary setup made with Bachmann EZ Track (not pictured) set up to get a feel for how I...

    Shelf Layout Building

Well I took another long time off from trains again, I have come back with a vengeance. I have noticed myself getting stuck with analysis paralysis when it comes to building the layout. Now I truely understand what The Pixel Depot was ranting about in his dream layout video from a few years...

    Train Elevators?

I was watching Jimmy of DIY and Digital today talk about his plans for the second deck of his layout. If you haven't seen it yet, give it a watch. He is always killing it with the N-scale stuff. While he was discussing his double deck, I had a thought: how could he compactly get his rolling...

    New to site and railroading.

It would probably be wise to keep it around 3 feet, but if you think you can stretch it, then go for it. After all, it is your railroad, do what you want! Just giving you some things to think about in the planning stage.

    New to site and railroading.

Dang, what an upgrade! Wish I could go O sometimes, but that space constraint is a killer, so props for being able to convince the wife. To reiterate what some others on the forum mentioned, be aware of those corner tunnels. In the event of a derail, you could be screwed. Do you have a story in...

    Shelf Layout Building

The lower left is accessible. The entire lower bit allows for an aisle from door to door in the room. Since I renovated the baseboard in SCARM, it took away the room outline which gave a better picture of the layout inside of the room. The red square is the door into the room from the attached...

    Shelf Layout Building

I have returned! After a bit of a hiatus, I finally got back to working on the layout. I just posted a YouTube video regarding my absence (Linked Here). Anyway, I have gotten back to layout work and have drawn some stuff and tried to figure out what works. Here is my drawing translated to...

    Catnippertom's Locomotive Works

Man if those weren't $18 I'd get them. I got the loco for $10 so not sure those are worth it. But then again... im tempted for sure!

    Catnippertom's Locomotive Works

For the last few days, I have been working on this: This has been re-branded as a Spokane Portland & Seattle locomotive, which is perfect for me. It doesn't have a smokebox, and it doesn't seem to want to run either, which is upsetting. It was listed as running, but I guess I have to figure it...
