Glad it worked. I been in the same position myself with a new decoder just outof the bag.

First off, reset the decoder to factory default. Test to see if it then runs correctly with the 03 address. If it does not, it could be defective.

Is the loco reponding to the Digitrax throttle? Is the noise the only problem?

The handrails on the GP50 are part of the walkway casting. The loco body is
one piece that connects to the walkway by tabs in the middle of each end.
Disconnect the handrails from the cab and pry up the ends of the body with a narrow Xacto knife. The battery box/steps will...

Is switching what you want to do? If it is, go for it. I would
say that if you get hooked, you will want to expand the layout. ;)

Real Nice Modeling! Next time you go for a dental checkup
ask the Doc for 1 or 2 of those cotton rolls they use. Cut with
a razor blade and you will some nice rolls of TP!

Don't buy the Decoder....there won't be any room inside the loco to set up sound. I know Kato has room in the fuel tank in the HO version but not in the "N".
