@MikeGTW we have the same problem, even if I write it down. Now where did that paper go…🤣🤣🤣

I’m changing the name of my freelance railroad, OSRX! Old School Railroad. DC, manual switching and oddball rosters 🤣🤣🤣

    38 Years ago I left - Now I return - some N Scale Questions

Welcome back to the hobby! My opinion, skip the Bachmann starter set. I started that way and regret it. Sub par performance from the locomotive and rolling stock. Do it right from the beginning and get a Kato starter set. You pay more upfront, but the quality is excellent. Others will have to...

    Don't bend your flex-track

At least you got a sticker. When I ordered and received mine, the box was bent and damaged. Luckily the track was fine.

@MikeGTW, those look like the real thing and not a model railroad to me!!! I’ll be honest and if mine ever looks that good…I’d swear I didn’t build it 🤣🤣🤣🤣

One suggestion…that would be the only time I would use a economy engine to test out the track! Hate to chance a fine quality locomotive over uncharted territory…😳😳

Tony, you can always automate the easy way…using your fingers to move things. Cheap, easy and you’ve got em already!

Trim the handles and add motor housings and you’ve got the same ones on the New York State Canal System. Those channel cat fish and carp put up one heck of a fight though!

    Arch Foot Bridge

It’s something different to do. Gets us outside away from electronics. YouTube has some videos on magnet fishing. I’ve yet to find a gun though. Quick list of what we’ve caught so far. Railroad items Spikes, track clips, nuts, bolts, tie plates, brake shoes and a spring. Found fishing lures...

Pulling magnetic metal from the river. We stand on a old single lane bridge. One end of your rope is tied to the bridge to prevent you from losing your magnet. The other end has a magnet of your choice. Toss the magnet into the river. Pull it back to you and see if you caught anything. If you...

You sir seem to have a prime spot for magnet fishing. I’ve got 5 minutes travel time to the river. Our favorite spot is about 15 minutes one way. But we can magnet fish and railfan at the same time. Literally 250’ from the rails.

Sounds good to me. Silly question, but is this a one way elevation to a slightly higher area or will there be another way to come back down to the main part of the layout? Trying to visualize it in my head.

What about some pallet wood? It’s not always the greatest wood but there’s some places that give them away free.

Maybe a quick search around the house could yield something. If you have them, shed, garage or storage area. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who’s forgotten where I’ve put things…😂😂
