    Cordless power tools

Have to let everyone know that the battery was recycled. Ended up taking a load of tires to the waste management center. While there I just deposited the battery into a plastic tote. They take any battery from hearing aid size to the larger deep cycle batteries at no cost, no questions asked as...

    New Layout, Suggestions Needed

I know working that many hours takes a toll on you. Did 1 month of 20 hour shifts. Paycheck was fabulous…no energy to do anything else though. Know I’d end up in the hospital if I pulled only 2.5 hours of sleep a day

    Selling my old track

Turnouts sometimes require a little “tuning” to make them function correctly. Plenty of YouTube videos to help with that. Might have to sacrifice one to figure it out. Prefer to manually throw the switch than use the motor.

    New Layout, Suggestions Needed

I’m taking a guess to you’re referring to how dark of a black to use with your current lighting? Grab some sample cards to see which color suits your needs directly in the layout room.

    A question about “Airbrush Management”

Hardwood floors aren’t much better!!! Lots of experience searching for N scale parts.

    Selling my old track

Can you send me a PM with what you have please?

    New Layout, Suggestions Needed

Yes. That way the layout is highlighted in the room.

    New Layout, Suggestions Needed

I would suggest black on the fascia except for any elevated scenery above the edge of the layout. A earth tone to any hills that rise above the edge. This way you are forcing the perspective to the layout and not the immediate area around it.

    New Layout, Suggestions Needed

Mock it up at 1.5 inches first. Should give enough clearance then.

    New Layout, Suggestions Needed

You could have a forest scene there where the track snakes through the trees. This way the train disappears from sight momentarily helping the illusion of distance between scenes.

    New Layout, Suggestions Needed

For me, it would work as I have N scale. IIRC you model HO. Are you planning low relief industries along the back wall? Trying to accommodate the 0-5-0 switcher underneath the second deck.

    Unusual addition

So how would the inspector signal the train to stop? Lights of some kind? Have never seen something like this. Got to learn something new today.

    Cordless power tools

I’ll check with the local guy who rebuilds computers. He may have a bin for them. I will see when the battery vendor comes back again. They might take it also.

    Cordless power tools

That battery will be placed in the dumpster Monday morning as soon as I get to work! Thank you for the warning. Glad I didn’t try to disassemble it!

    Newly Aquired Freight Cars

I haven’t lost all my marbles yet…although SWMBO seems to think differently.

    Newly Aquired Freight Cars

IIRC, since the merger, BNSF can use the BN and SF reporting marks without changing them. If I’m mistaken, please let me know.

    Newly Aquired Freight Cars

Just saw a mixed freight roll through while eating at a track side restaurant. The boxcar was originally Montana Rail Link. Reporting marks were sprayed with self etch primer and new ones added. Seems to be done recently as the primer is still gray and white letters and numbers still well...

    Cordless power tools

Have to do that sometime…the battery is swollen. So maybe something broke inside. Have it stored outside for now.

    Cordless power tools

Home tools are DeWalt as they’ve let me down once after 15 years of use. But that was 15 years after I got the drill secondhand. It already had 10 years of heavy use before I got it. My battery powered work tools are Milwaukee. Bought those off the tool truck that shows up at work every Friday...
