    Golden White LEDs

Wow, a 5 year old thread brought back to life, old threads never die :D I did see this post "Don't forget to get diodes for your leds (to protect them from reverse voltage)." And just wanted to mention that it's not correct, an LED IS a diode, you do not need a diode to protect a diode...

    fire truck hit by train

Poorly trained driver and/or officer, that's about the stupidest place to park any vehicle that you could possibly find, no excuse at all.

    The Ideal Model Railroad Store

I'd be happy if I had a local shop at all :( Used to have a couple in my area, by the time I got back into the hobby they had closed.

    Can't reset MRC decoder?

Don't know, maybe it's the only one with U23B sound? I contacted Tony's Trains and they said the MRC was the only one available. I emailed MRC support and they said only CV's 1 and 29 get reset when you reset the decoder so I guess it's not a full reset, seems kind of silly.

    Can't reset MRC decoder?

I already knew that, but they were all that was available for these locos. I've already decided I'm going to be purchasing future locos only after determining I can use one of the more reliable brands of decoders in them.

    Can't reset MRC decoder?

Using the NCE PowerCab, I have 2 MRC 1811 decoders installed in my 2 N scale Atlas U-23B's. I had an audio issue with one which I straightened out, but in the process of troubleshooting I found I could not reset them (CV 125 to value 1), when I selected CV 125 it said it couldn't read it, tried...

up big boy to get reading paint?

I'm a believer of the "it's your road, do what ever you like" theory. If you want it and it doesn't exist, make it, there are no rules. I'm considering renaming my N scale Clinchfield Challenger to Maine Central, did a propotype exist? Nope. Would the rivet counters take great offense? Probably...

    Just for fun

Yup :) But they will yield on occasion, a few years back I was driving the first due engine to a chimney fire, lights started flashing as I approached the crosssing, a car was already stopped so I pulled into the oncoming traffic lane and stopped to wait for the train to pass, turned out it...

Wife Is Going To KILL Me!!!

There are so many things wrong with that I don't know where to start

How do you ID turnouts on layout??

My plan with my 36" x 80" N layout (still in the planning stage, no permanent track laid yet) is to use a central panel with a track plan on it. I plan on using this. I'll mask off and paint my plan on it, and will be using Ken's turnout switches with LED indication at each turnout on...

Wife Is Going To KILL Me!!!

I roll (stuff to be more accurate) my own cigs, I can make 4 cartons for what it costs to buy one in the store.

Common Sense - Rules - Stupidity!!

I find common sense is in short supply in this day and age.

The West Virginian, it's like the Virginian, but West

Looking forward to watching the build. I'll be starting a thread soon, not much to post about now, all I have is a 36x80 door on legs.

Small UP Derailment not too far from my town

ahhh, I forgot about the dirt and general crap that would be mixid in with it

    Which DCC System?

Wish I had 8x9 to work with! definetly do a build thread, I'm going to start one as soon as the rest of my track comes in and I start laying (doing a freelanced mid atlantic/northeast setting), right now I only have about half the track, and none of the 9 turnouts I need, I just have an oval...

Small UP Derailment not too far from my town

I find it hard to believe that ice (and snow?) can survice the weight of a locomotive?

    Which DCC System?

After doing much research I'm going with the NCE power cab, as my layout is only 36x80 inches I don't think I'll be doing more than 4 engines at once, but if so I can always add the booster down the road, price is a factor for me as well, which is why I'm going with a starter set. I've also...

    Led wiring setup

I put about 20 years altogether in the volunteer service, got tired of the politics, grade school like behavior, and lack of discipline and called it enough.

    Led wiring setup

That's exactly how I'll be doing it, just need to find something to make my control panel out of.

    Led wiring setup

Kato, did you have a look at the link I provided? They have 2 circuits for Peco turnouts. As Dub said you either have to use a momentary switch, or you can use a regular switch with a pushbutton (thats the method I'll be using with my Kato track for indication on a control panel)
