    good HO tank engine

Hmmmm. Sorry I like that spectrum but I'm not looking for such an expensive modeler. Im very frugal. So theres not many tank engines huh? Shoulda gone european. They have nice variety. Maybe I some of you are mistaken. It doesn't HAVE to be an 0-4-0. Actually if anyone makes 0-4-2's that...

    good HO tank engine

Hi, To start I'm basically looking for a nice tank engine for my layout but searching for "tank engine" always gives you thomas produts. I also can only find those common 0-4-0 dockside switchers. So my question is, does anyone make a good tank engine thats NOT those docksides OR model powers...

    Ambiance

Yea that's what I mean. I was thinking like a moving industry structure or something. But the only ones I'm familiar with are very toy-like. You see I'm not that familiar with alot of those quality brands out there. I'm used to Atlas, Model power, Roundhouse, etc. So lights is a must.

    The ever so famous question

MilesWestern: If I were to "paint" the chalk on, that wouldn't look bad? Mac Loco Works: There are no decals.

    The ever so famous question

Ok so. I have the Bachmann 0-6-0 UP steam engine HO and I didn't like the colors so I spray painted it black and it looks gorgeous. Then I tried weathering with chalks and if I do say so myself, it looked pretty good for my first attempt. Then I tried sealing it with Clearcoat. The weathering...

    weathering steam with acrylics

so you get chalk, take sandpaper and reduce it to fine bits, sprread some over the loco, work it in place with a brush and seal it with dullcoat?

    weathering steam with acrylics

Thats another possible idea I had. What are the possibilities that some chaulk could damage the motor of a loco?

    weathering steam with acrylics

Has anyone done it? I really want to but I don't want to ruin a good loco. Suggestions, comments or techniques?

    Anyone else think like me?

But I think I would have more fun looking at models than the real thing.

    Anyone else think like me?

Well I've been thinking and I think I like model railroading better than the actual prototypes. Problably due to all the actual operation I have been learning about. I don't know. Anyone else think like this or am I insane?

    mounting track?

Ok I am going to purchase a 4 foot by 8 foot board of styrafoam for foundation. My questions are: 1) How to I attach it to the plywood base? 2) Should I still use cork? If so how do I put that down? Thanks. -Joe

    Lighting buildings

Thanks man, It helped. But I do have more questions. I have 2 transformers for my layout and 2 extra ones ill be using for lights and such. Should I be worried about an overload? These 2 tranformers are simple cheap ones that only do direction and speed and have 4 ports at the back.
