    Couplings Don't Match :(

Greetings, I have the Ontario GO Transit GP40 here and the passenger cars that go with it, three cars. Problem is the coupling on the cars is much higher than the coupling on the rear of the engine!! The car couplings, all of them, sit above the engine coupling. Making it impossible to...

My First 4X8 Layout, So Far.....

Yes sidings would be nice. I programmed two engines into a double header last night and ran them as one unit, hey that was cool. Advanced stuff I know. :D R,

My First 4X8 Layout, So Far.....

Yes, I will be attending the big train show here in the Barrie Ontario area next month, as I do every year. Except now I have a layout to add to! I just discovered today that the black Norfolk Southern GP40 that came with one of my sets is in fact DCC ready! When I looked before I didn't...

My First 4X8 Layout, So Far.....

Hmmm, Atlas could always provide some thing like that in a more advanced kit. I did think about building the raised portion on a raised ground that was landscaped. But you get a better view with the raised track. My tunnel is from Wood Land Scenics, I thought about building one with the...

My First 4X8 Layout, So Far.....

Ah right, but is there a kit for that? That's just not some thing I want to build from scratch  Maybe in two years I'll bring in a pro-builder from the USA and have him build my layout for a month or so. I hear there are guys that do this for a career. R,

My First 4X8 Layout, So Far.....

You mean between the gray posts? Hmmmm, I'm looking at the box it came in, 47 piece Over N' Under Pier Set from Atlas. It just shows the piers holding up the track there is nothing in between the piers. Are you sure about that? It seems to work fine. There is a grabbing piece for each...

    Lenz System, HELP!!

Ok well the layout is done, for now, and the Lenz system is finally working all bugs solved. Even the right number assignments for the engines. Took calls to the Lenz HQ to get that issue solved. I have the two controller plug nicely set into the maple wood of my table so it looks impressive...

    Lenz System, HELP!!

So I finally have the lights working, one more issue solved. My programming and speed issue has the Lenz folks stumped. I can't program the engine as 725, its real number, if I do it runs slow. I can call it the reverse 527, and it's fine. Lenz has no idea what has happened to the 725...

    Lenz System, HELP!!

Now this dang thing has started to really tick me off, it's back to square one! It seems that overnight with the power off all of my settings have been eliminated. Is that supposed to happen? You need to re-program on the programming track before each session? I re-programmed and I have the...

    Lenz System, HELP!!

Well I haven't solved the mystery of the lights, and now I really do need to knock off the night, now 2am. I did get the other hand held unit up and running though. Now I need the bus for the two controllers and a board for the other engine installed. Then we should be running two trains...

    Lenz System, HELP!!

Ok, Ok, you need a "programming track". Nice of them to put that up front as STEP 1 in the manual, that would have been the logical place for it, DUH! Instead they stick it on page 51! So I made a programming track with a spare power connector track and some hook up wire, I programmed in the...

    Lenz System, HELP!!

I set the speed steps to 14, same thing, no speed. You and I have different ideas of fun, I want it to work.....now. Just for laughs I pulled out the board and put the plug in the other way and tested the engine, runs exactly the same. No speed. I'm going to try the loco on a...

    Lenz System, HELP!!

I ran the loco first on the regular DC it flew around the track perfectly. Now on DCC a snail could outrun this train at top speed  Any way I'm giving up for the night, day one with the Lenz, Richard: 0, Lenz 1. Good golly this thing is as user friendly as a PC!! (I'm a Mac guy) I can't...

    Lenz System, HELP!!

I tried the switching off and on trick a few times but the light kept flashing. Now the light has finally stopped flashing, I think hitting the red stop button over and over again re-set it? Any way it now shows "normal operation" as it stays lit. Ok I unplugged the system and took the engine...

    Lenz System, HELP!!

Ok here's where I'm at right now. I got a new engine that said it was DCC ready to receive a board with an 8 pin connector, good news I have two of those boards. So I bought the engine, great colour scheme too even if it is a passenger engine that will have to pull freight cars for now...

    Lenz System, HELP!!

I don't know which one I've got? One manual says LH90 Engineer's Throttle, the other says LH100 Dispatcher's Throttle. So are you saying that even changing the board won't get that DCC ready engine to run on the DCC system because it needs a different motor as well? R,

    Lenz System, HELP!!

Yes I got the Lenz system as my 4X8 is ready to run. No landscaping done yet though :) I hooked up the Lenz and tried the locomotive I have that says "DCC Ready" on the box. Not sure if that meant it has the DCC board or it can accept the DCC board. So I took off the top and had a look...
