    Hudson

Selector, Now that little device sounds very appealing! Thanks for sharing it. From the 'net research I've done to date, I've narrowed my choices to the BLI model and the Rivarossi. A few hundred bucks is a lot of money; however, aggravation caused by saving a few bucks buying what I don't...

    DCC, DC, and Maybe BS

SpaceMouse, I completely understand that DCC is superior to DC for many model railroad applications and operators. However, DC is most suitable for our model railroading. I do not have a dedicated railroading room. Right now, our set is in our living room under our tree. I would like to run two...

    DCC, DC, and Maybe BS

UP2CSX, Thanks for the info. I did buy an MRC 220 Tech 4 transformer, and when I get it all hooked up I'll let you know how it works. I have been mulling over my train needs, and I cannot fathom running more than two simultaneous trains. Therefore, I think it would be much less expensive were...

UP2CSX, Thanks for the lead. I will be looking for lighted passenger cars to go with a Hudson. Merry Christmas, ST

    Hudson

Selector, Thanks for the info. I did check www.trainworld.com, and it's listed as being in stock. I think what I am going to do is wait until Jan 3rd and go to the train show at the Anaheim Convention Center. I hope I can find what I want there. After thinking about this hobby more carefully...

    Hudson

I'd love to own an HO Hudson and lighted passenger cars. Is there a quality manufacturer of a Hudson? I want one that resembles an early model. Merry Christmas, ST

    DCC, DC, and Maybe BS

UP2CSX, BTW, I did kind of sour on the salesman when I felt he tried to intimidate me into purchasing a transformer I did not want. I am going to the train show at Anaheim Convention Center on Jan 3, '09 where I hope to buy what I need. Merry Christmas, ST

    DCC, DC, and Maybe BS

UP2CSX, The primary engine that refuses to budge on DC is part number 83309. The other is 82501. Merry Christmas, ST

    DCC, DC, and Maybe BS

hamltnblue, I followed your advice. I did not hear sounds coming from my locomotive; however, the light did illuminate. If you were going to buy a good-quality DC steam locomotive, what would it be? I do not want to sink any more money in this hobby if I have to take antidepressants...

    DCC, DC, and Maybe BS

hamltnblue, Thanks so much. How difficult is it to bypass or disconnect DCC? Merry Christmas, ST

    DCC, DC, and Maybe BS

I am a classic railroading neophyte. The salesman told me that many of his customers have abandoned DCC and have reverted to DC. Now I am not sure if he told me this because he wanted to sell me a high-priced MRC DC transformer or if he was honest. Merry Christmas, ST

    DCC, DC, and Maybe BS

hamltnblue, I have two Spectrum steam locomotives that refuse to run on DC. Merry Christmas, ST

    DCC, DC, and Maybe BS

Will DCC locomotives run on a DC power source? I have a Spectrum DCC locomotive that will not run with a DC power source. A train shop salesman told me it will work on a DCC source. What's the truth? Merry Christmas, ST

Transforming tim the tool man's advice

UP2CSX, I just bought a MRC 6200; however, my DCC engine will not run. What other expense must I incur before I'm good to go? Merry Christmas, ST

Transforming tim the tool man's advice

He'd encourage me to rewire the feeble transformer I now have. But I just don't think so...There's gotta be a better way!!! I neophyte of HO railroading. I am in dire need of a transformer with enough amperage to run steam locomotives on a large layout. I might eventually run more than one...
