Running Bear's July 2026 Coffee Shop

Bought mine 50 years ago. The Lionel version. Bought a couple more sets last year. Yesterday I visited one of the last remaining (barely) Freedom Train cars in Elbe, WA

Just to be clear "casualty" in this context doesn't mean "dead", it just means "needed medical attention". The heat got them and they were dropping like flies. I work at Ren Faires in the summer. Any day that's 80 or above has way more people needing medical attention than you might guess. First...

    Model Railroad Forums offline

There are very few forum software choices out there, so most forums use one of the three or four big ones that are left. As for the problems, we all fight the same battle, spammers and scammers. They constantly use bots to create fake account and bombard the place with spam. Not only is is...

Yes, it does. Let's see if it holds though.

The gardening website still exists, but everyone migrated to Facebook, so unlike this place, it's totally dead. Maybe when I retire I'll have time to get some activity going there.

I don't know who Verticalscope is, but if you'll let me know, I'll be happy to send them the server bill. Until they pay for the server, this place is "independently owned and operated", along with Railroadforums.com, by one person, who loses money on it, and has a day job that pays his bills...

For what this place costs me every month, it should already have dual hamsters, but I've been leasing this server for about 8 years and yes, it's getting old and tired... Migrating is a big deal, so it will likely be fall before I'm able to tackle the move.

Can we get Vimeo added to the allowed video formats?

In unrelated news, holy smokes Batman, those locos are putting out some serious smoke effects.

Can we get Vimeo added to the allowed video formats?

They all do that. It's a tracking code. It can also be used, at least on YouTube, to set the video to launch at a specific location rather than at the beginning. Ideally Xenforo would just truncate that bit, or, better yet, support it, but for now, the work-around is to delete it.

Can we get Vimeo added to the allowed video formats?

Found the problem. You can't post this: https://vimeo.com/1163650298?fl=pl&fe=vl Only copy up to the question mark. Not it or anything after. The question mark is probably what breaks it.

I just tried it, works fine there too. What link were you trying to post? Exact URL please?

Can we get Vimeo added to the allowed video formats?

Yes, just drop the URL in there and it will convert it. I never use that menu, forgot it even existed.

Can we get Vimeo added to the allowed video formats?

No, it's a XenForo thing for linking to the videos hosted elsewhere. But it seems to be working fine.

Can we get Vimeo added to the allowed video formats?

What's not working the way you want it to? So all I did was include the URL, Example: https://vimeo.com/1163650298 and it shows up inline, same as it does for YouTube. You can also do it with this: , but simply cutting and pasting the url is quick and easy.

    Dark Mode Now Available

In related news.... There is no XenForo iOS app. Instead it's designed to be "responsive" and adapt to whatever browser you may be using. Responsive design When the system detects a small browser viewport, as found on mobile devices, the user interface automatically adjusts into a...

    Dark Mode Now Available

I only use the forum on Desktop, so I never even considered it. But lots of people use iPads and phones and in low light conditions it can be useful. It's something most people won't even notice, but it's there for those that want it.

    Dark Mode Now Available

Based on member requests, I've now enabled dark mode for the default Xenforo theme. It does exactly what the name implies, you can turn it on with one click and you can switch it off any time you'd like. To activate, look for the "style variation" switch at the very bottom of the page...
