I cant do this anymore. (April 1st joke)

Best of luck to you. But prepare yourself... working on a real railroad (or almost any job for that matter) is going to have lots of hassles and headaches.

Athearn Genesis SW1500 Tsunami 2 Momentum settings

Nothing, it was already at 1. It is now running protypically perfect (to me) by doing the following... cv212 from 255 to 220. This got rid of the lurchiness that was occurring in notch 1 and 2. Thought I got a lemon unit, but no. cv114 to 2 for more aggressive engine sound changes within the...

Athearn Genesis SW1500 Tsunami 2 Momentum settings

My almost 20 year Prodigy Express cab has SV, ACC and DEC as its opening programming selections. I never touch SV ACC is set to 255 DEC is now set to 200

Athearn Genesis SW1500 Tsunami 2 Momentum settings

Hi I picked up this new engine the other day. The accel cv set to 255 (the max?) and the engine still accelerates too rapidly from a dead stop. Decel CV is set to 150 and that works well for me. Is there some other CV that will slow down acceleration? I also have another Athearn G with Tsunami...

Critique my 8x12 L-Shaped HO Plan

relocating team track lengthens the lead to 58" (at the expense of a shorter, 17" team track) curving the interchange track adds 2"

Critique my 8x12 L-Shaped HO Plan

Thanks for all the great feedback, planning this is a ton of fun! While on youtube yesteday this protypical operation caught my interest so the plan has been adjusted to mimic it... The revised plan has... the longest yard lead possible to minimize disruption on the mainline while switching...

Critique my 8x12 L-Shaped HO Plan

Can also move interchange to top right and gain a separate team track siding and an industry at previous interchange location. However, runaround capability and independence/separation of mainline operation from switching operation is lost with this setup though...

Critique my 8x12 L-Shaped HO Plan

relaxed the curve and tangents at top left so they dont hug the edge so much, and also added a team track area by shortening middle siding

Critique my 8x12 L-Shaped HO Plan

I've the itch to take down my shelf layout and take over the middle of the room with (2) 4x8's arranged in an "L". Dreaming of lots of trees and some elevation changes (of the scenery, not of the roadbed) simple, relaxed running and only minimal switching ops (just one well-served industry)...

    Bachmann locomotives

I had an early "Sound Value" RS1 (or RS3?) and it ran/sounded great, especially with a lot of momentum CV'd in to simulate a load. What stunk about it was the headlights were very dim and too yellow. Maybe the current units are better.

10x14 Shelf Layout final build stages

Switched some cars today. BTW, this Athearn Genesis GP38-2 has the best sound Ive heard yet in a loco and it runs great too. Tsunami 2 length comparo

10x14 Shelf Layout final build stages

Lots of stop and go's since the beginning of Covid but getting there. Left to go is undershelf wiring tidy-up, painting/weathering of buildings and facia/trim cleanup. There are five industries to work (three East facing, two West facing) and a four 50' car capable runaround to facilitate the...
