Yup, did that same thing myself. But caught it quick enough before they shipped it. It was no problem and they where very helpful. Guess from this thread it's happened before.

Navy, 1989-1995. Storm, Shield.... etc. USS Lincoln (maiden cruse), Nimitz, VFA-305, Golden Shellback. Blue Nose. CNBC/Warefare Spec., other stuff. Then DOD, DOJ, and other "various" gov. duties.
But it's all about the TRAINS NOW :D

Cool thread, thanks for the "bump"

Very cool, thanks for taking the time to do this.

NYC-George, thanks for the good comments. I will, no doubt, have folks over to see the layout, many of them will be kids - hence I'm not so sure drinks will be allowed! One reason I'm building this is to run trains with my daughter who is seven as well as other "non model RR'ers" who I want to...

DaWolf, lol, ok, point taken. Thinking of running an average of 20 to 25 50' cars??? Not really sure how large the yard needs to be or the passing sidings. I know the info is out there on the proper ratio and such, just have not gotten that far along yet. The yard needs plenty of detailed...

Thanks Partsman, and I have:eek:
Anywho, I've tried to put a wye in the alcove, but it's only 37" wide and keeping with a 32" min radius for my bigger loco's, it's looking like a nice interchange with a bit of switching. While the lower level (not show yet) will be some staging. It will have...

Was messing around last night and came up with a dual main with the helix in the northwest corner. It's a jumping off point. I'm getting better at using the program and putting the "limited" ideas in my head on to "paper"
The...

Yup, was wondering if you burnished the turnouts as well, or just left them alone until cleaning was needed. But was thinking if I go ahead and build them, then I could "pre-burnish" them.
-
So what are tips for the Turnouts? Just be more careful?
-
For me, I will be burnishing all my track seeing as it will be new. Or I guess the other term gleaming... but I like saying burnishing better.

Thanks for all the comments! The sub-road bed has been "penciled" in for cork, the foam is out. Been busy with real life of late, but I've managed to do some more work on the computer. Here is my latest (and most certainly not the last) design.
The mainline has #8 turnouts with #6's in the...

Here is my very basic and preliminary around the walls design. Taken me a while to get the hang of using a cad program. No yards yet, but I did put in an interchange into the alcove. It will be a sight duck-under, but I'm good with that. I'm thinking of putting in an oval helix within the...

OH, good luck with that. Been bidding on any every dummy I see for UP. About a month ago there where some calf's and they went for like $100 each. Sheeehs.... I've yet to get my hands on a slug/calf. Brass or plastic. Been able to find a few GP's. E8's are not as rare and the F7's ect are...
