    I looked at a picture of the tower and the base doesn't seem that thick but it looks easy enough to cut off. I'd cut around the raised bases for the legs rather than across that way they will still be level with each other.

    When I use nails I like to pre-drill with a small drill in a pin vise, then I use this pin pusher to set the nail to the proper depth. If that fails there is always the nail gun.

    You could run the wiring behind the facia and you can easily get to it then put the facia on. That way the space under neath is accessible for storage.
