Hi there,
Just had a look at the thread and really enjoyed it, and it's nice to see the ladies get into it, even if it's at such a young age.
I've always wondered what interest a female would have in model railroading, and I figured it would likely be on the artistic side ??.

You really don't need DCC to run more than one engine, there is the old DC block control method with DPDT center off toggles that would work ok for a small layout. But going with DCC with an entry level system would also have it's benefits.
Go ahead and tear it down !, lots of people dismantle...
