It does act like that, but more as just something to solder on. doublesided tape to hold the pieces before welding.

That skillet was part of a cookie kit. I don't remember the brand but it was a novelty and cheap. It is my soldering pad and works well...

That cast iron skillet is one item I don't have on my work bench. Not sure if I have room. Some guys get all the neat tools. 🍳 John
