I have a mobile layout, 15' x 10' I can run 4 different time eras from 1958 to 1976 by changing some vehicles and buildings out. Location stays the same and of course mountains etc. I run steam in 1958, then different diesels in 1963, 1970 and 1976.

Will an Athearn GP40-2 shell fit over an Atlas Gp40 chassis? Would it need some minor modifications to fit or a major overhall? Thanks.

I have HO Intermountain FP9 and F9B diesels bought new in 2010. Running together they draw too much power from my power pack ( MRC 280 dual) and run very slow ( 25-30 MPH) at full throttle. By themselves each one runs about the same speed with sufficient enough power to pull all my passenger...

possible bell
I have a bell taken off a new IHC 2-8-2 premium steam, the bell looks similar, you would have to cut off the stem that goes in the boiler and figure out a way to hang it like in the picture, it's just a bell no frame. You can google the IHC 2-8-2 premium and let me know on this...

I just bought an HO scale Athearn Streamlined coach, about 72' long, and am looking for an interior for it. Any suggestions where I could find one? Thanks, Bo.

Ah, that's the word I was looking for footplate. Your right, bought a Bachmann 2-6-0 Alco and Bachmann 4-6-0 both needed weight in the tender, especially the 2-6-0. Also have an Athearn 2-8-2 Mikado, smoothest and best hauler I have next to the Bachmann 4-6-0 which can haul anything. Also won...

Thanks for the reply Crandell. I jumped the gun, after further investigation it wasn't the chains at all. What caused the derailments of the tender was the walking plank from the loco to the tender. Somehow it got underneath the tender probably lifting the tender slightly causing it to derail on...

I have a fairly new HO scale Proto 2000 Heritage steam engine 0-8-0. Runs fine, but on the tender by all 8 wheels attached to the trucks and underbody of the tender are chains dangling down. These chains hang down quite a way and often get caught on switch tracks and derail the tender. I want to...

Yea, Atlas said it was manufactured in 2004, the one thing besides the non working rear headlight you notice is the weight, compared to other Atlas engines that I own the S-4 feels like it was cast in lead, extremely heavy. Sometimes I wonder why such a huge weight difference with other Atlas...

headlights
Thanks for the excellent ideas and feedback Trail & MGW, just heard back from Atlas and there is no rear light in the cab. Have to say I'm surprised as I have a few Atlas engines all with bi directional lighting. I know where I stand now, so can go ahead with great input from both of...

I have an Atlas HO S4 diesel switcher with non directional headlights, ( so Atlas says ). I only run in DC mode. The headlight on the cab side doesn't work, the front one always works in forward or reverse. I bought it as new old stock and it looks new, a good runner. I'm assuming either the...

Yeah Cjc I was afraid of that. Even a closeup picture the quality looked questionable. Think I'll look for a better quality caboose. Thanks for your reply.

I have a chance to buy an HO scale lionel caboose but know nothing about them. Looks like truck mounted couplers from the picture, can change them out to body mounted. Could add detail too as required. Is the general quality par with Athearn or the lower quality Model Power for example? Thanks...

I'm about to repaint and decal an HO scale Atlas MP-15DC switcher. First time at doing this, do the shells come off these diesels easy enough or is it a major task? I've already taken the railings off. Thought I would ask those in the know before trying the shell. Thanks.
