My Father passed away in January 07 so I took it until August of that year when I had a cerebral hemorrhage resulting in a massive stroke Leaving me disabled, My son took over at that time. He passed Aug 09. Now his 5 year old son wants to take over, time will tell.

I've had a number of hobbies over my life some get put on the back burner for a time and others as time goes by I realize I can't keep doing them. I won't bother to mention any of them because it doesn't matter.

However through it all Model Railroading has always been with me in some way, shape or form and has been for almost 34 years. I can relax when I'm involved in it and much of the time I'm not actually thinking about trains or modeling. I'm collecting my thoughts and as I build and reflecting on things

I will mention my other favorite hobby though and that is playing the Ukulele. I took that up about 18 months ago. I really enjoy this instrument more than I ever enjoyed the guitar.......hence my user name "Rail-Uke"

Some very cool hobbies here.

My other hobbies are my numbers matching 1969 Plymouth GTX and collecting German militaria.

Photography and photography-based art. That's enough. (for train-related examples, see the link in my signature)

Other hobbies...

* Model airplanes (RC and control line)
* Model rockets
* Old cars (mostly 60's Mopar stuff)
* 8 bit computers (COSMAC Elf, C-64, etc)
* electronic projects
* gardening
* photography
* guns
* rock collecting
* drinking beer

Cheers,
Ken

As for the Uke in Rail-Uke

Yeah I can play that song too. Probably not quite as good with his strum rythm but I do OK. I tend to play standards and tin pan tunes.

I actually avoid that song as it has become what the Righteous Brothers version of "Unchained Melody" is to Karaoke singers.....so "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" has become to Ukulele players. When that dude on American Idol did his rendition of it a few years ago that kinda killed it for me. I did really like Israel's version but now I think I'll stick to Judy Garland.

Finally A thread I can post in where I have some background. lol

My other near life-consuming hobbies are scuba diving, cave diving, and spending it up the tree in a stand watching mother nature wake up. Lastly, spending all the time I can get with the best lil nephew God could have given me.

And it's always good to end the day after playing some tune on the guitar with some bubbles-n-burgers.

Aside from sleeping, getting some rest after a long work week, tons of laundry, dishes, bill paying, more laundry, pay the rest of the bills missed last week, discovering new growth in the fridge and less in the bank...well that about gets it. Lol

completely obsessed gunnut/hunter/handloader, a bit of fishing when the mood hits me, and recently a friend got me into the collecting and smoking of briar pipes.

I used to do that, had almost 30 before I was ruined with cigs. Just remember that quitting is easy, I've done it 100's of times.

oh i have no intention of cigarette smoking full time, the pipe is usually only used twice a month or on a hunting or fishing trip.

My other hobbies include old Mopars, and the collection currently includes 3 68 Barracudas (thus my screen name), a 68 Charger RT (currently in pieces at the body shop for an extreme make over), a 67 Plymouth Belvedere wagon and two 67 Dodge Coronets.

( On a side note, the courthouse lawn in the background of the first photo made national news a couple weeks ago when a Athiest group displayed a skeleton in a Santa suit nailed to a cross as their contribution to a holiday display in an attack on the Christian religion with the town council approving the display.)

And then theres the collection of 1/18 scale diecast cars, including a couple 4'x8' dioramas I made to display some of them.

And 1/32 scale slot cars share shelf space with some of the 1/18 scale diecast cars.

This, by the way, is a more recent picture of the Charger than the one above.

Other hobbies..... Hmmmm.

Well I tend to like to volunteer and do community service. Been a Boy Scout Leader for 35 years (everything from Cub leader, Scoutmaster, Committee Chairman, Unit Commissioner, Camping Chairman, Camp Director, Chartered Partner Rep, and Merit Badge counselor to name a few. Ordained Deacon in the Presbyterian Church, active with several other community groups as well. I would claim that my "other" hobbies might just be:

Camping
Hiking
Cooking
Collecting RR memorabilia: (Switch lantern was a mess when it was given too me and has been since restored and wired for electric light)

Have been a professional musician (Singer, teacher,and owned a recording company) for 48 years of my life. But I would still claim this as one of my hobbies:

1/1 scale trains:

Doing Graphic design and layout for CDs I produced and Model Railroading led me into what I would list as my second hobby though. Photography! I provided most of the publicity photos for 2 camps for about 10 years up until a couple years ago. I have also been lucky to have a couple get published locally. Here's a couple I won local contests with.
