I have been building a layout for a guy, and he requested that it be a mix of HO - O - and N scale. The O scale is the dominant scale, but the other scales need to intertwine the layout in a way to keep a forced perspective. An existing N scale layout needed to fit somewhere in the new layout, so it was decided to go 18" off the floor in a valley. The HO would go up high to keep the valley looking large. Long story short, all three scales intersect at the same location, so the HO needed a very large bridge. The optimum span I could account for was 66" (or 478.5ft in HO). I decided to go with an arch bridge similar to the New River Gorge bridge in West Virginia. It took me about eighty hours to construct, but the bridge finally made it to it's new home on the layout. Track should go in next week. I cannot wait to see trains rolling across it!

Nice, nice work everyone!

After a whole lot more work than I thought I still had left (found several areas in the yard I had not put in power feeds to or wired the frog yet) tonight, I finally backed the Lakeshores Limited into her berth in the Upper Staging on the SLOW. Only difficulty was one of the 3 axle trucks on the Baggage car wants to derail at the Walthers curved turnout. The inside route is a bit tighter than I figured it would consistently want to stay railed and as her track will be the one by the wall, it should have not had a problem.. I think the 3 coaches have trucks that are not as free wheeling as they should so with a bit of tweaking the problem should be resolved. Only has the problem backing up, but she will have to be backed into staging after every operating session.

I finally have the beginnings of a layout! I had to keep it freestanding because I live in an apartment, and a 4x8 sheet cam be moved fairly easily.

Current state of my layout. More of a loco collection than anything.

Going to the Western Pacific Railroad Museum tomorrow to participate in their "Run a Locomotive" program. I'll operate QRR 1100 and SP 2873. I'm so excited. I'll get some pics and videos up when I get the chance to.

Been working on another tunnel motor for NYSW, this one is for me.

Added lift rings, correct DW horn, removed the athearn rear vertical light and glued in a sunrise enterprises SP light cluster with blankouts. Sanded off the rear nipples on the long hood and the marker lights on the short hoood. Added the antenna piping to the cab roof along with a A/C delete.

I worked a lil on my SD70MAC with flared radiator just cleaning up some filled in area's with putty. Going to look thru my parts bin for a horn and then add some small stuff to the pilots. Then this and the tunnel motor will get ready for paint and decals.
