The tug and small barge (under bridge) is the foamboard,card stock, matt board kit for like $15 off evil-bay. It was a different challenge after building plastic/wood kits..I liked the sturdiness it had after complete and covered with Mog-Podge and natural dents that were created in paper..and it will float!..I will still be keeping it to guide the hopper barge under the bridge.
The idea of the barge to bring cars on and off I got from other layouts..I have even seen them used as a entrance to a hidden staging yard in the wall/closet. On a small layout its a great way to bring on new rolling stock or swap fulls for empties.
