I've got some time off this week so I decided to start work on this kit that's been on my to do list for 2 years.I really like working with the Woodland Scenics kits but the painting takes hours. Hopefully it'll turn out okay.
I started by taking al the structual parts and airbrushing them in Floquil rust. This gave them a decent primer coat and since the building is almost all corrugated metal, I could use the primer for a head start on the weathering.
I then used acrylic paints for all the painting after. I painted the metal sheeting with a light gray, brushing in the direction of the corrugating. I only did one coat so the rust would show through in places.
This is the interior sides with the primer and interior bracing painted:
Awhile later and some more details were painted.
The detail cast into the walls is amazing, like the sink has tiny taps above it, and the tools hanging on the walls.
Here are the interior walls with most of the painting done. I'll probably do a black wash over the walls to weather and dirty it up just a bit.
And all the paints I used, I picked them up at Micheals and dollar stores:
Now I'm working on the machinery, Lathe, milling machine, drill press and blacksmith forge. More later
