Hello All

I have an ITT HQ series Sound module for my grade crossing. WWW.ittproducts.com

I also have the Trainspeed Flashmaster. WWW.trainspeed.com

Has anyone hooked these together and if so what would be the connections.

Here's the outputs of the flashmaster

Flashmaster

1 Light 1 Connect to one of the two light wires from the flashers

2 Light 2 Connect to the other light wire from the flashers

3 +5V Available for incandescent lights

4 COM_RES Connect to the common wire from the flashers if your

flashers do not have resistors installed

5 COM Connect to the common wire from the flashers if your

flashers have resistors installed

6 GND GND (0V) connection

7 Cascade Input to master unit when cascading two units together for

more then two track operation

8 BELL_neg External bell unit trigger – low going signal

9 BELL_pos External bell unit trigger – high going signal

10 XOVER Crossover input (see advanced options)

Thanks

It's not clear to me from the web site which unit you got from ITT. Is it the grade crossing bell? From the rather sparse instructions in the ITT PDF file, it looks like you need to provide at least 4 volts AC or 9 volts DC to activate the module. It may be that the #8 and #9 terminals will output enough voltage when the signals are activated but the Trainspeed instructions aren't much better giving you that information. I'd measure the output from those terminals with an ohmmeter to see what kind of voltage they produce. If it's at least 9 volts DC, it should be enough to trigger the sound effects module.

I Just received a call from George of Itt who went through it with me. Turns out I have a version that does not stop when you remove the low voltage. His current version does. He's sending me a replacement unit no charge.
Excellent service :D
