I'm lost need help wiring up my track. I have a oval with a figure 8 in the center of it. Using kato track and atlas controller to make a reverse loop. How do you wire it up? Thanks Mark
Hi Mark and welcome to ModelRailroadForums. I'm not quite sure of how you have a reverse loop, but this diagram should help you to understand wiring a "reverse loop".
If there's something you don't understand about it just ask.
Cheers Willis
If you're looking for a very simple way to wire a reverse loop, just add a bridge rectifier (about $2.50) to the loop feed, then all you have to do is hit the reverse switch on your throttle when the train is in motion in the loop!
The train keeps going without having to stop.
Does anyone out there have info on this to save me some digging?
I have a diagram somewhere if you're interested, including how to wire a simple LED signal at the aproach that tells you if the polarity is correct to enter that leg.
Our club wired the training layout for the CNR in Gimli MB like this, worked great!
Thanks for the help. I'll go home tonight try it. Mark
The above is assuming you are are using DC to power your tracks. If you are using DCC, then it is done differently. It can be done using the DPDT toggle on the reverse section itself or (much better) you can install an auto reverser in line to the reverse loop. A lot of info on it can be found here:

Thanks for all your help. It"s working fine now. Mark
