Hey guys,

My grandfathers old Lionel 2046’s whistle tender is struggling to make a noise, it’s requiring lots of power to use it. We use a CW80 (from the looks of it) transformer. It seems the loco is drawing too much power for the tender to keep up. The whistle button doesn’t really make the whistle work, but the bell button does (most of the time)

If anybody knows how to help, please let me know

Probably both the loco and the tender could use a good cleaning/servicing. There are now plenty of YouTube videos made by a variety of content creators about doing this. Do a search and start watching some of them. Old postwar Lionel locos are quite easy to work on, and spare parts are available from various sources. That's why these old locos continue to be popular to this day. 👍
