And to finish up cabooses, we have to have Kasgro, but to have Kasgro, we have to have a Bachmann 380 ton Schnabel car and 2 buffers flats to go with it. I made this after watching videos of the real ones.
Let's take a look at our NASA line. All cars are totally fantasy, but people seem to like them. I've done both HO and O scale cars. Let's start with the HO stuff.
I buy the MicroScale decal paper, my wife downloads the graphics and makes the decals for me.
Sticking with the NASA theme, I did two O scale engines. I lot of learning went into these two engines. The switcher is from the 1950's, the GP is a more modern. My knowledge of Lionel was pretty limited. But it was fun doing them.
To go along with the GP38-2 #13, we went with the Apollo 13 theme. I used a 1/144th scale rocket kit. I know it's way out of scale, but it sure makes a cool load with all of the different stages of the rocket. Jono's Junction made a lot of the engine covers and rocket motors stand for me. He does excellent 3D printing work if you’re ever in need. Enjoy!!
I ran out of fantasy paint scheme Southern cabooses, so the shop is getting 4 ready for paint.
First a bit of modifying is required.
-cut off tool boxes on the body.
-cut off center bar on the bay window.
-cut off tool box on the floor and install filler plate.
-fill in light and antenna holes on the roofs.
They will come out like the last pictures when finished.
Yes Sir they are. I've had 20 or so of them now. They are very nice, easy to build and affordable. Here's a picture with measurements .
Overall length is 45', usable max deck is 24'. It's very comparable to the Walthers 90 ton depressed center flat car.
My last batch.
Ah, perfect thanx Jerome!
Someone told me they do molding for other companies and started releasing their own stuff, I don’t know.
I can either get the undec kit like yours or just bite the bullet and get the TTEX painted version. Shipping is the same either way.
I picked up a cheap kit to build and can’t justify this big of a car for a light load like this but it would need the depressed center.
