ModelRailroadForums.com is a free
Model Railroad Discussion Forum and
photo gallery . We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.
As good as a place to start. My name is Jerome (formally know on here as the SWitcher Guy) I've been messing with trains for 50 years now.
5 years ago my wife and I started a business (see above) we build weathered HO scale cars. We've been traveling NC, SC, TN and GA doing train shows.
We must be doing something right and that people like. It's paying the bills and making us a bit of profit at the same time.
I will post a lot of pictures in here that show our work and the process that we use to make the equipment.
Sit back, enjoy the ride!!
Jerome
To start, an Athearn 40' Great Northern boxcar.

Welcome back. Glad to hear the train circuit works out for you and the wife .
Welcome back!
Making a living doing what you love, with your wife as your partner, is what I call heaven on earth.
This is how I paint 200 sets of wheel chocks. Production line. 2 sizes of both single wheel and dually chocks.

The paint shop has been very busy the last 2 days.
Pic 1 wheelsets and 2 different size smoke stacks for cabooses .
Pic 4 a G scale car I'm weathering for a vendor.
Pic 2 & 3 applied fading to this NP boxcar. Seems like it's over done, but once Dulcoated, it tones it down a bit.

Some 3D printed cradles for loads. The bottom of the turret is a Mountain Dew bottle cap.

Rico, this is all for you. I got on a BNSF shoving platform kick. Most are done from prototype pictures.

Thank you for sharing your work!
Very nice, you’ve been busy I see!
I knew I was in trouble when I put the first BNSF loco on the rails, what could it hurt, right?
Then another showed up (like chips you can’t have just one).
Then two more found their way home, then… well you’ve been there!
Thought I’d stick with H1, then H2, now who knows
I guess we can finish off cabooses today. These are actual RR cabooses I've made for the southeast. These sell really good at the shows down here.
A little bit Southern, Clinchfield, Central of Georgia, etc.
