between Atlas trainman and the the others in their range. I knowe that Athearn has the RTR and Genisus but there seems to be far to many in the Atlas range.

Atlas Trainman engines use the same drive as the regular Atlas engines. There is less detail on the bodies of the engines & cars.

The Trainman is Atlas' trainset quality (detail wise) locomotives and rolling stock. However, as noted, the drive in the Trainman locos is the same as the Silver locos, which is very nice, and in my opinion, runs better than an RTR Athearn (and, unlike Athearn RTR trainset locos like the GP38-2, not only do you get a better drive, but also DCC ready). I would buy more if they would make more body styles (nose headlights, large box filters for the GP38-2 like what the ICG had).

In O scale, Trainman is nice too, sometimes with as much or more detail than the higher-end Lionel rolling stock.
