BN Modeller
We got to talking the other night about what was in our display cases and I thought it might make a neat topic and maybe show off some interesting stuff.

This is what hangs over my work bench, note the "cute little guy" on the right? The contents change depending on current projects. Well, here goes:

Bottom row: N scale CNR freight train with various cars; N scale British Columbia Ry freight train with a Concor RDC painted for the BCR bringing up the rear.

First row: Various Burlington Northern MOW cars, all are Walthers cars with the exception of the Athearn “big hook”

Second row: Bachman track cleaner lettered for Sperry Rail; Red Caboose flatcar; Athearn BCR caboose; Walthers scale test car; 2 Athearn RDC’s painted for the BCR

Third row: Herpa CNR high rail mounted on Bachman powered chassis; Two Bachman powered step vans; Two “Canadian Railway Modeller” anniversary cars with a “CRM” anniversary container in an Athearn TTX well car; Athearn Rocky Mountaineer GP40-2

Top row: A slice of 136lb rail; O scale Lionel high rail truck to be painted for the Central Manitoba Ry; 1:48 scale speeder; goofy little steamer lettered 007; SP&S and BN match books; K-line O scale speeder; builders plate from one of my 1:1 Plymouth locos

On the left is a photo from a friend of mine, Suzanne.

So, what's in your display case??

Not a bad little wall collection you have there Rico. I have nothing to share in that capacity but, good idea nonetheless.

something a bit different maybe?

Mine's really a shadow box, if it can run, it's on the track!

from left:

a MoPac buzzsaw hatpin
my grandfather's practice telegraph key (actually a Lionel key)
his MoPac Agent emblem from his hat (see pic above box, that's him at his desk at his station. We also have that typewriter.)
an HO MoPac red caboose
a MoPac document seal

that's all....

soon I will be adding his RR watch to the box

I use to have a long showcase for loco's, but it took up to much wall space for backgrounds & mountains, so, now I use the whole layout as my showcase.

That's really nice, Ken. I had two uncles and a grandmother that worked for the Pennsy and another uncle who was an engineer for the C&O. I had a great uncle who was a conductor for the UP in Nebraska. I'm not aware of any memorabilia that was saved except my uncle's Waltham railroad pocket watch, which I was lucky enough to get when he died, and a few photos. I know there were a lot more things that were probably just tossed out.

I do have a display case. Not much compared to some of you but I'll have to get my camera out and take a picture tomorrow.

Well, I've just started model railroading... but I do have a glass display case my hunny got for me - it houses me custom 69' ZL1 Camaro, and my South Dakota class battleship. They are 1/24, and 1/700 scale plastic models.

The Camaro took me about 80 hours, a kitbash of several first generation F-Bodies, and the Bammer' took me about the same, with photo-etched details and a plaster water base (both look better in person... I have a crappy camera :o )

No display case here, just a bunch of 8 foot by 1 foot shelves on one wall. Most rolling stock is six deep on the shelves. Some aircraft and helicopter models on the top shelf, all working together to corner all of the dust in our house!

Nice model of the "Lucky A" Kyle:)

I've never been on the 'Bama, but I've visited her sister the Massachusetts on numerous occasions.

My case, has mostly no trains, I'll take a picture later on today. My display shelf in the layout room has a ton of trains...

Thanks Dave! I've been on the Alabama a lot since I was a kid - last time I went (before I moved up here to GA) was after Katrina I think it was busted everything up. The ship had righted herself a lot, but still had a slight list. Also, the submarine they have there (Gato class, U.S.S. Drum) is now out of the water.

Is it just the Bammer and Mass left then, all others scrapped?

Very nice model of the Alabama, Kyle. She and the Massachusetts were the only two of the four strong class to be preserved. I was down in Mobile last summer and all the hurricane damage to the ship had been repaired and she was in good shape. The aircraft hanger next to her wasn't so lucky. It was still in bad repair and the majority of aircraft that were on display were still in a damaged state. The Drum is up on mounts out of the water but that's because her hull is in such bad shape that she was constantly taking on water long before the hurricane. They have a video taken by a caretaker on the Alabama when the hurricane hit. It's pretty impressive. I'd sure hate to see what a Cat 4 or 5 making a direct hit on Mobile would do. :(

Not exactly a display case, but 2 walls in my office/workshop are all shelfs full of completed, un-completed, projects, etc.

I've been collecting these since I was 14, so 31 years later, you could say I have a few engines. :)

Sorry about the picture quality, my camera in my phone is not living up to its former value.

This is my Curio cabinet in the living room.
