What Other Hobbies do you have?

just wondering how much maintenance you do on your ciclid tank. All I do is change the pads in my bio wheel filter and top of the tank. no water changes or anything, but the parameters stay great. I guess there is enough bacteria in the 4 inch deep bed and 35 pounds of texas holey rock to keep up the 10 fish and two plecos. I havent lost a fish in three years which included a move just wondering because everything you read whines about persistant water changes.

When I had ciclids I had to do 20% every week! at any given time I had 12 adults 6 mating pairs and their young.......which was any where from 50 to 300 fish in a 90 gallon tank. They trashed it! I had to tear it down 100# worth of rock and plants to catch the babys. the real job was to find them homes!

I collect hot wheels....

I used to do that too but fell off the map of interest after awhile. I tried to collect every blister pack though so I think that I burned myself out. Now I have somewhere around 650+ cars all boxed up in the basement.

Ron Have i seen you out and about lineside when there's a steam special through, i take it you have a ZZR1100, not silver by any chance

Steve, yes I do have a ZZr1100, but mines all black. The only steam special I went to on it, was when the Princess Elizabeth went through Bolton a few years ago, that was the day when she went under a bridge and had her chimney damaged.

Jim what's in Alabama? We went to Yazoo Mississippi few years back to visit my brother and sister in law, and I under stand why the eagle fly upside down over that state! From what I seen all that state offers is gambling and prison time! only jobs i seen was in cotton, gambling, nissan factory, or jail!LOL's I might be wrong but that's all i seen!

Chris,
You're going to get Rex all riled up with that kind of talk. :) First, there's hardly any cotton left in most parts of Alabama. Second, we don't have a Nissan plant. Hyundai but no Nissan. The few "casinos" we have are actually bingo parlors since real gambling, including a state lottery, is illegal. One of our biggest problems is that most criminals don't get enough prison time and we have far too few prisons for the size of our population.

I don't know what part of Alabama you went through but most of the state is really pretty. It's especially beautiful now with all the azaleas, dogwood, and redbuds in bloom, not to mention all the wild wisteria draped through the woods. We have actual hills here that look pretty nice compared to the torn up phosphate mine landscape I've seen Florida. I don't want to sound like the state tourism director but I've been here two years and I've seen about 1/10 of what there is to see here.

Hey Rex Sorry Man! When I was in yahoo city, miss. and i wasn't impressed;) My brother in-law works for the fed. pen there in yazoo! I'm not into gambling and I forgot my fishing pole. and not else much to do in yahoo other than cause trouble or pick cotten. althought i seen some kids shooting tree rats with a bb gun, it looked fun but i declined to join them(too old);) The rest of mississppi I can't say, but yazoo is way to sleepy for my taste, and the closest wal-mart is in jackson 50 miles away.......kinda reminds me of dade city florida.

As for alabama when through the southern half of the state other than the battleship i didn't see much of it:) next time through might take in more sights! as for prison time problem thats all over! but if your a boarder guard doing your job you get to surve the whole thing! Make the criminals boarder gaurds and when they go to jail they stay for a longer time!LOL's

for me it's a casual thing now, like I'll look around when I'm at walmart or whatever (that's where I found my sweet new GT500 mustang and focus)

that reminds me, I've got the check ebay for a matchbox "Early Bronco" (66-77 model years) that I've been looking for.

One of my favorites, I've got a green John Deer Ford Super duty pickup and trailer, and on the trailer I keep my Matchbox Bronco II that I found on ebay, in England of all places....looks good sitting on my bookshelf in my living room!

In winter I build RC planes and carve leather as well as model railroading. In summer theres gardening, working on the house and drinking a few cold ones while mowing about 15 acres of lawn twice a week. Also woodworking and photography.

I wish I could drink and mow!:( I got a 15 acre park to mow, and roughly 15 acres of lawns to mow while totally DRY:mad: :( :( O well:D

You'll have to install a cup holder on your lawn tractor like I have. LOL

I got one on all my equipment! But the problem is (beer) at the park I'm a Government employee drinking beer while working is a No No. People have tried, and were showed the door! the nerve the boss has:mad: and for my business, If I Drink and drive=Jail:mad: I'm just screwed:( :( Just drink a extra one for me!:D

Well at least you are geting paid for mowing. My yard has to be mowed twice a week and takes me about 16 hours so a few (or More) beers are in order.

I think I can Dig up a doner! just don't get a DWM! Drinking While Mowing! or a MUI Mowing Under the Influence! I can just see the cops episode!LOL's

Where i live there is more chance of getting eaten by a bear than getting stopped be the cops.

Police? what's that?LOL's...............Heck, last weekend we heard some screaming and yelling down the street about 1/4 mi:eek: ! we called the cops and i'm sure others as well called  ! Took the cops 20 min's to show up! Their always patroling in the higher income hoods, never in the lower income hoods where crap's always going down! Hell we had a crack house/whore house 8 years back, three doors up! my neigbor and I called it in and it took the cops 3 weeks to end that mess! Some days I wonder what our world is comming too? My neighbor hood use to be nice, now it's 2/3 rental's and they rent these house to any one! I thank good for the daycare one block over! wish I could afford to move:rolleyes: O'well!

We have bear's too!

Chris,
I don't know what the situation is in your area but, when I worked for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, there were always less deputies on the street in bad neighborhoods because we were spending most of our time booking bad guys and writing reports. In areas with less crime, we could respond faster because we spent more time on the street and less in the station. Even when we had twice as many deputies assigned to places like Compton than places like San Dimas, we were still off the street for a longer time in Compton. It's just a fact of life in police work.

Jim,
No this is a very cronic problem in my area! I wish it wasn't the case. You'll see them crusing my sisters hood parked to catch speeders and such. But you have to call them till your blue in the face to see them do any thing! I call one time to see if we could get a cop to sit on the corner 15 min a week to help with the speeding problem. I was told our problem wasn't bad enough........I guess people getting hit by drunk drivers and cars not making the curve and ending up in a house a bad enough? I'm not a gun owner just a bad dog owner:D , but I'm considering getting one though:( !
The police department lacks leadership and $$$ here...JMO
