I haven't had a model railroad since I was a kid, and simply dont have the room for a layout. I recently saw some wall mounted layouts on the internet. They were mounted on shelves along the top of a wall, about seven feet from the floor. I have a den that would be ideal for this.
What gague makes sense? Using N would let me make the most elaborate layout in a small space, but I'm worried it would be too small for a layout up so high. Would HO make more sense, or do I need to go even larger?
If any of you have wall mounted layouts I'd love to see some pictures.

Most of that type I have seen are just simple loops around the room, and are HO, O or G. and the largest percentage have been G Scale.

I think that N would be so small up that high that it would be a waste of time.

G scale makes the most sense from both a sight and physics perspective. It's large enough to see from below and the engines and rolling stock are heavy enough to work against the natural forces of gravity that will want you train to come back to the the floor.

Brian, I'm in the same boat as you, but will make my shelf layout lower - about shoulder height for me. I'm flip flopping over N-HO right now.

I would think at 7feet, you'll need something big to even be able to see & enjoy it. But that's just my opinion. :)
