I have always understood that a small number of people responding to a Poll meant that the accuracy of the poll might be inaccurate.

When I judge science fair projects, I look for the student to use at least 36 samples from the "general population" of the experiment. That is the threshold number where things start becoming statistically significant.
 
The "idea" was to model transition era; some late steam, some first-generation diesels. But... along the way, other stuff crept in for a variety of reasons. So I guess "we don't need to STEENKIN' era" might just apply to me a little more. Oh, well -- it's MY railroad! :D
