What else ya into??

That's a great car you got there Mikey, is it a Corvette, excuse my transatlantic confusion

Steve- Sorry to take so long getting back to you!
All work and very little play the last couple weeks.
It is an '81 Corvette. The early "68 to '78 C3 body style were known as "Stingrays". The later '79- '82 sloped back window style were known as "Sharks" after a MAKO SHARK concept Corvette.
They handle like a MGB with power.
Fun to drive, but 6-8 miles per gallon under a heavy foot.:D
It almost gets like trying to identify diesel engines with the small differences from year to year.
The new 2006 are C6's or sixth generation body styles. But I like the older body styles, just as I prefer steam over diesels most of the time.

Sorry to be so long winded, but I want to wish you a Happy New Year, too.

I (used to) ride bikes. Harley Davidson and choppers I built myself. From scratch, no kits here. Want to get on one again someday. Live to ride, ride to live.
Harry

Mikey nice car but the MPG,,, boy o boy, i drove 38 tonners with better MPG than that, i worked it out and it would cost £13 ($24) approx a day to go to work and back, ,,,,

My other hobby is building computers. I've built a bunch of them, including the one I'm using now. It has a generic 6 bay case, 2 80 gig hard drives, a DVD ROM drive and a DVD burner. The mainboard is a Gigabyte Gold board with 7 expansion slots, 8 gigs of RAM and a 2 ghz AMD dual-core processor. For USB components, there are 16 USB ports, 8 are 1.1 and the other 8 are 2.0. There are 4 of each on the back and 4 of each on the front. And let's not forget the media center. This allows me front panel control of mics, speakers, volume/recording levels as well as another joystick connector. Power up time from turn-on to online is 48 seconds. I'm using Windows 98SE with IE6, SP1.

Its a restoration started in sept 04. Was pulled from a field outside kansas City..

I also enjoy Computers - woodworking - ham/cb radio - perfecting my bbq skills

Hey I use to haul a 22 foot camper around with my 351 3/4 ton Ford van , You want to talk about gas mileage .when I took that rig through the mountains of West Virginia I had a tanker following me !!!!

I dont do too bad, Im getting around 11 with a stout motor and no overdrive propelling a 7500 lb truck.. Id like better but.. I dunno how it'd do towing, never pulled anything with it.

Ok I'd better come clean, that was a mockup with my buddies race car wheels sitting over the barstool wheels. Here's what it really looks like.

I like the 68 to 76 F-250 4x4's. Fe engine, NP435, NP205, Dana 60, Dana44 right? Looks like either a 75 or 76 front end. Nice truck, had my own shop as a sideline business for a few years. Specialized in those trucks. They're well built and hold value well. Never owned one of my own... yet. I have a "baby kitty" 3126E in the garage I'd like to put in one someday. Cat diesel, Allison transmission, swap the front 44 for a 60. Keep the engine around 330 horse. Good to go. Take some tweaking to make it fit, but what a ride.

Nice Harry! Id thought about tryin to shove a big ole kitty under the hood of one of those 70's fords.. Ive got 3 of em to choose from, thou only one is 4x4.

As said above its a 390FE thats been worked over pretty good, right on with the rest of it.. I had orignally planned on pullin the 44 and swappin in a 60 but its a show only truck, so no point. Has been signed by bob chandler, thats why big foot #1 is in the background. bf1 bein a 74, and my truck bein a 75 I figured his signature would be fitting. Got some nice compliments from him, as well as the offer for his shop to build a custom lift kit for me. Somewhere I have pictures of BF1 before it was famous, and still on 38's ..
Everything has been replaced on the truck, xcept for the roof and parts of the bed on the inside. I did all the bodywork and paintwork. Even has a custom tailgate, I had the word Ford cut into and then backlit. Very cool.

Theres more pictures there, thru the build process and all.

Scott,
Putting a 3126E wouldn't be that hard. Engine only weighs aboout 1800lbs fully dressed, Allison transmission adds another 1,000 or so. Main issue is length, those straight sixes are long. The best thing to do would be to "dog house" the cab. Cut a large gap in the firewall, position the engine as close to the radiator as realistically possible. Fabricate a new firewall and trans tunnel to clear. Industrial Allisons are floor shift (exception being GM trucks) anyway. Short propshaft from the transmission to the NP205. Might even be able to hook it up direct depending on how you locate and angle things. Electronics could easily be mounted on the inner fender. Lots of room there. Some simple programming, a turbo from a larger series engine, and you'd get a barn burner. In cab tuner could let you derate the engine to 210 horse for 25mpg highway, depending on gearing.
Just some thoughts from a long time heavy mechanic. Now if you want to get ambitious an eight speed Eaton Fuller could be boss...
