I’m buying a second booster for my DCC system. I found out the hard way that having a number old tech (blue box) locomotives that draw a lot of current is overloading one of my power districts. Setting the trip current higher on that power district’s breaker will work for now, but I wanna make sure I have the capacity I need for operating sessions.
Drunk buy last night. Rapido Lion in OO scale. 50% off with sound. This'll be my first sound loco. It'll be a while for it to arrive as they have to go dig it out of their warehouse. Hopefully not too long.
Reviews were all very good. No room for a stay alive where the decoder is located (tender), but I think I've figured out how to get into that copper dome part.
Also remembered to get some firemen to go with it.

Ordered a "bandit" from Rapido. Why? Because i like the Paint scheme and the Nickname
And here i will defenitly try some heavy weathering on it.

I was lucky to find one of these. It is a Microace EF13-31 convex electric loco. Built during the war with the convex shape to save on metal. They used concrete for ballast and had armored crew cabin. This model was advertised without a delivery schedule, then it suddenly popped out in the middle of May. It was sold out within 2 weeks and I've been searching since. Took a chance and did another wide area search and found it.
This month? The only notable purchase was a Class One Models Santa Fe Waycar, or Caboose for the rest of us. It's a really pretty model. I'd suggest you Santa Fe fanboys trot over to their website and check them out. I bought a 1950's version with wig-wag signals on the cupola, something they did in the pre-radio days. It's a really nice piece, heavy on the etched metal details, and the markers are even lit by track power. A magnetic wand switches them on and off. A nicely sized capacitor keeps them lit so they won't flicker. Been hemming and hawing on this and looks like haw finally won. Tenshodo EF10 HO scale. Tenshodo is known to me for their brass models, so I'm not too sure about their plastic stuff. This has an 8 pin socket and has headlights, tail lights and cab lights, so will be interested in how that's all wired up. Should be arriving later today.
Just visited that site and their stuff is amazing! The true fans, opening doors, cabeese lighting, and you can get the locos as a 6 pack! I wonder what kind of handle is used on those... haha
Just pushed the go button on a Tomix Tango no Umi set. I had a memory of catching this train from Kyoto to Maizuru back in the early 2000's and for some reason, I remember a dome type roof.
Right after I pushed buy, I realized that I had just f-d up as the train that I caught back then was called Tango Discovery and not Tango no Umi. I confirmed it by finding an old photo that I took with one of those Casio watch cameras, so poor quality, but color.
I believe the train type is the same, but the colors are different. I think the Umi replaced the Discovery as it is no longer in service. The dome roof must've been the large panoramic window. Brain not working too good nowadays. Oh well, it looks cool, so I won't cancel, but really wanted the nostalgia.
Yup, already have been researching the interior scheme of the train and will paint to match. Looks like this train doesn't have a bar like the Discovery, but it does have a set of lounge chairs by the large windows at the ends.
Got a few items on sale in today from Walthers and Midwest Model RR. Pre-ordered one of the America 250 TTX American flag boxcars from Walthers too, but that won't be here for a while. Happy early Independence Day!
I shouldn't have, but I did, and I'm not sorry. It's reliable, and you can handle it without breaking things. I did buy the stealth model and install my own decoder, a Tsunami. The speakers were already there. I've never cared for BLI's decoder boards, and I sure had no interest in a smoke generator. Those things are for toy trains IMNSHO. Plus, our club banned them long ago. It was expensive but worth it.
I purchased another craft paint holder. They hold 168 bottles of craft paints. Due to constrictions the first vertical row holds Floquil paint. I have enough craft paint to fill the first one and about 1/2 of another. Pain in the arse looking through boxes to find the correct color. So I bought another holder.
The installation was no easy task. Due to the ridge on my locomotive holder, I had to move the case to the left about 3 inches. I had to of course remove my original holder due to the fact that there was no room on the paint wall to install it and be able to turn on the lights. So I had to take all the paint out of my original holder and move the holder as close to the top of the ceiling as humanly possible. There is about a 1 inch space between the original and the new one...but it is just enough to turn on the lights. I found about 70 or so bottles in boxes, so I have to make little labels on the bottom of each so I can place them in some sore of color order. This time I will leave spaces between the color groups for more bottles. Whites, yellows, browns, reds, etc. I'm OCD on this kind of stuff and once I started to think about it; I have to do it. Forgot to show the original position of the one paint holder; but trust me, it was a can of worms completing this project
Got two DCC locos inbound, but today wound up with a new steel ruler, styrene sheet, some decals, modeling putty, a turf shaker bottle and some sand that goes in paint to give it texture.
I thought i would enclose a pictures of what the craft paint holders looked like installed. The vacant space looks like a lot; but the holders are about 2/3rds full
