What are you buying this Month?

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

Bought a Keikyuu DEHA 230 4 car set, used. In pristine condition like it never was run. None of the options were installed.

Keikyuu railway is a private company that runs in my area. They are standard gauge and run very quickly. In my search, I ran into this video showing the evolution of the trains on this line. I will be picking up the Daishi Type 1 kit in brass next month. Pretty neat.

CRYX 5178.jpeg

Ordered a bit early, but when you see something like this you must rescue it. Didn't have a chance to pre-order one with the move last year, but I was able to snag this at MMRR.
Rapido Greenbrier 72' IL 7780 Reefer (w/ Sound) Cyro-Trans (CRYX) 5178 "Los Angeles". Looks and sounds great. Can't wait to run it for real.

Added this guy to round things out. Atlas Master Gunderson 7538 High Cube Double Door Box Car.

Tomix HO type 3000 railcar. While researching a Tomix HO tram, the retailer showed me this model to compare how they ran and I liked this one better so I ended ordering it from that guy. I thought it was going to be a noisy runner, but it runs fine.

Plan is to detail the interior a bit since it is all green and then make the interior lighting. Current plan is to keep it DC, but it'll probably end up going DCC.

Ordered this pair of Hornby Terriers.

TERRIER PACK.jpg

I don't know why I like them so much, but I will be adding these to my current collection. Although I only have one actual Terrier (left), the other 3 are classes that were created in the likeness of the Terrier (two P class and an E1). The E1 is the Terrier on steroids.

I have another one on pre-order from Dapol. This one will have firebox flicker. I am planning on installing the firebox flicker and head/tail lamps to the two Hornbys when they arrive. Building up my pack of dogs!

Pulled the trigger today and ordered one of these. It's a Dapol GWR class 517 0-4-2. Was waiting for more reviews to come out, but this specific one is quickly selling out. My go to place jacked the price up on this specific one, unfortunately, so I went to a different place. Price is £122. I get it for £102 since they remove VAT for outsiders. Comes out to ~$138.

These little guys were used for suburban commuter trains. Their size and small coal bunker would have limited their distance. This model has a firebox flicker, so the open back makes it easier to see.

That is one cool machine!

You going to be able to outfit that with DCC?

Replacing the tools that were stolen last year. Most recently a new 12" Drill Press (A Wen this time, to replace the old Sears Craftsman), a work table and a tilting vice. Only possible now because I (finally) got the insurance settlement on the totaled RAM pickup. It wasn't USAA's fault that it took so long. Just couldn't secure a clear title for a couple months because the truck never made it Colorado, but was wrecked in Iowa.

Not a simple or easy tangle to undo, and I won't buy out-of-state again, having just gone through the experience.

Some C.B.&Q decals for Zephyr passenger cars and also some for Q steam engines.
Silver "fill in the blank" names? Silver Sunrise, Silver Sunset, Silver Service, etc? Not sure which one's were CB&Q's. I know the Rio Grande's Zephyr's a bit better: Silver Bronco, Silver Sky, etc., the ones that were held over from the original California Zephyr trainsets (and owned by the D&RGW).
