Front truck derailing could be from not having enough downforce. There is a spring on it that may need retensioning (bending).

For the tender trucks, yeah wipers suck. Athearn's consolidation came with axle end pick ups on those trucks. They sell them. If not listed on their website, send them an email.

Kusojiji thanks for the reply. I will try to call Athearn tomorrow; but I would have assumed they would show the power pickup parts on the tender picture

Kusojiji, Thanks for the reply. I will be contacting Athearn Monday to see how their tender trucks work for power pickup. I looked at Athearn trucks parts online and they didn't show anything. Hopefully they still have some and they will fit. The axle wipers on the Bachmann engine barely make contact with the axle. The Athearn parts picture doesn't show any pickup connections, so I will wait and see what they say. Haven't tried putting more pressure on the engine lead trucks. Not much point if the engine doesn't run. I don't like buying something "new" and having to rework it to make it run properly

I don't think they were listed on the website so I sent them a question on their contact form, link at the top of their page. I also bought the consolidation's spur gear since I figure they would be prone to wear and would become unobtainium.

I order 2 pair today. Hopefully I can make them work

I would be interested in hearing about it. I used one set on an old Athearn caboose for lighting. Am holding the other set in reserve for another caboose in the future. I had an Athearn on pre-order, but after waiting almost a year and then being told that the tariff may increase the cost and I'd have to pay for it if I don't cancel now, I cancelled now.

Oh, I had assumed you used these trucks on a Bachmann engine like I intended to do

Received this used Kato Kumoha 11/Kuha 16. Not sure what "used" actually means, but it had not been run before. Wheels don't show any use. And, it took some voltage to get going, so it had been sitting for a while. Once running, it runs very well. Bonus is no traction tires. Not really meant to pull anything although there is a 2 car add on set for sale.

The result of drunk buying. :P

"Used" generally means previously owned by a retail consumer. Over the years, I've bought a lot of previously owned, unused model trains.

I ordered a pair of Atlas RSD4/5s from our friends at Lombards. They are factory equipped with the latest version of Loksound decoders. I hope they run well, they're pretty small to be putting a decoder and speaker in. Originally, when Atlas was re-releasing their stuff in their Classic line and upgraded them to be DCC-ready, they didn't upgrade these or the RS3, because they were too small for a decoder to fit.
Pictures when they are delivered...

The shop that I buy from grades each model and if it still has all the optional parts, never installed like NOS, the get an A. A- may have a box that has some damage. Pretty good so far. I haven't been let down yet.

I picked this issue of "Model Railroader special issue" up at the grocery store where I regularly buy model railroader.
I was very pleased with the number of model railroads they have in this magazine.
The magazine was thicker and had more pages. I think this was well worth the money this time.
