What are you buying this Month?

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

Good morning. 6 full days into June and I haven’t even looked online for anything. I feel like I’m letting the Model Railroad economy down. Seems though Walthers, YD and Scaletrains ( Father’s Day) are having some sale pricing as I am being pounded with emails. Maybe when I get home from traveling next week I will look. There’s always room for another diesel on the engine servicing tracks

Good shopping to you all

Well, I made the trip to BLI's one-day garage sale, and picked up a slew of stuff, all N scale.
Big Boy 4014
Challenger 3985
a GM&O 4-6-2
a NYC 4-6-2, red and grey
RDG T1 4-8-4
SP PA1/PB1
UP PB1 dummy
UP PA1/PB1 shells
CSX F7A
CSX SD70ACE
CSX AC6000
And a few other things I can't remember of the top of my head.
My credit card is whimpering...

Terry I think my credit card feels that!

Holy crap!!!

Did you save some stock for other people?;)

There were people carrying multiple boxes of stuff out of there. There were several transactions of over $2k while I was waiting in line.
Diesels were $50 each, if complete, steam engines were $100, if complete. The exceptions were the Athearn Challenger and the BLI Reading T1. The Challenger was about 2/3 off retail, and the T1 was at the regular "refurbished" price of about $250.
There were boxes of open-package BLI passenger equipment leaving at $10 per car. Complete body shells were a couple of bucks each, if complete--less if pieces were missing. As for N scale rolling stock, all they had were cattle cars and cryo cars, neither of which were anything I could use or wanted.

Got some more trees to go with the layout.
Also ordered Bigfoot he came in a pack of 10..... So I'll have a couple of Bigfoot hidden in the trees somewhere.

I love (what I call) Easter eggs on layouts! Of course, the only one I have planned for my layout is R rated. I should think of another, more family friendly, one 🤔
Thanks, that gives me an idea.

Also plan on having Batman and Robin
From the 1960s era TV show.. with batcave entrance.

And of course I will have to repaint and detail the Bigfoot to look a little more realistic.

Bought 4 more of these, bringing me up to 12 so far. Been finding models on thingiverse and squishing/stretching to fit this chassis. The boxcab was made to fit this, so it was easy. Found a nice tram that was made for HO scale. It scaled down nicely. Printing the roof now.

Now I need to play catch up and install my LEDs, which is a pain in the arse as the pre-wired ones are too small for my wire strippers. Been trying to burn the insulation off with the soldering iron, but I think that is making the wire too brittle.

Just ordered 6 more of the 11-109 power units bringing me up to 18. I gotta get out of the house more often instead of finding new models to print...

Also ordered a Kato HO Kumoha 40. It says that it is an 8 pin DCC socket for motor only, so am wondering how to wire the headlights and install cabin lights. Will figure it out when it arrives.

I got this Athearn - RoundHouse,
Santa Fe ...F7A - 38C from Amazon.
Also I picked up these 5 in. Evergreen/Pine trees. Of course I have to paint the limbs and the trunks brown on the pine trees, because they are translucent green color. Also these trees are from amazon.

Well, while the Kumoha 40 has a DCC socket, it is totally inaccessible. The hole is also surrounded by metal so trying to wedge anything inside there is a no-go. I sent Kato an email asking what decoder they recommend as none of mine fit. I think they need help...

Socket only has 4 pins. Cmon guys! This will have to be totally custom.

Latest steam D51 release - no DCC.
